Wavumi Privacy Policy

Last updated November 4, 2026

Who we are

Wavumi is made by OPENIM CORPORATION LIMITED ("we"). This policy says what we keep when you use Wavumi, why, who else handles it, and what you can do about it. Questions: skiffer@openim.io.

What we keep

How we use it

To run Wavumi: your account, your chats and calls, making and running apps, and adding the credits you buy. To keep it safe: reviewing reports, limiting abuse, and fixing problems.

We don't sell your information, use it for advertising, or track you across other companies' apps and websites.

AI

Wavumi asks before anything you say goes to an AI provider, and you can turn it off at any time in Me → AI. With AI off, chats, calls and playing apps still work; making and changing apps doesn't.

With AI on, these are sent to the providers below to work out an answer: what you ask Wavumi to make, change or answer, with the recent messages in that chat; the plan for a new app; ideas Wavumi suggests from your spaces' recent messages; your voice when you speak an idea; and what you type into apps that use AI.

When someone in a space asks Wavumi something, the space's recent messages, yours included, are sent along with it.

Who else handles it

These companies handle information for us, only to provide their part of Wavumi:

We may also share information when the law requires it, or when it's needed to protect someone's safety.

Who sees it

Only the people in a chat or space see its messages and apps. Apps you publish to the plaza can be seen by anyone, with your name. Your email and phone number are never shown to other people.

When you report something, our team sees what you reported. The person you reported isn't told who reported them.

Your camera, microphone and location

Wavumi uses your camera and microphone for calls and for the photos, videos and voice messages you send, and your location only when you share it in a chat.

Apps in Wavumi can use your camera, microphone, location, motion, speech recognition and reminders only after you allow it, and you can turn each one off in the app's info. Apps can't send anything to the internet; what they save stays in Wavumi.

Calls

Voice and video calls go between the people in the call through our call servers. We don't record them.

Where it's stored

Your account, spaces and apps are stored on our servers in Hong Kong. Chat messages, photos, videos, voice messages and files are stored on our chat servers in mainland China. Both are Tencent Cloud. If you use Wavumi from elsewhere, your information is transferred there.

How long we keep it

As long as you have an account. When you delete it (Me → Delete account), we delete your account, your profile and your drafts, take you out of every space, and end Wavumi's link to your Apple ID. Messages and apps you shared in spaces stay for the people in them, under "Deleted user". Apps you published to the plaza stay up until you take them down, so take them down first if you don't want that.

We keep reports, and what they were about, for as long as we need them to keep Wavumi safe.

We keep the record of what you bought and of your credits after you delete your account, for as long as tax and accounting law requires and to deal with refunds and disputes.

Your choices and rights

In the app you can change your name, photo and language, leave any space, block people, turn AI off, and delete your account.

You can also ask us for a copy of your information, to correct it, or to delete it, by writing to skiffer@openim.io. We answer within 30 days. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to object to how we use your information, and to complain to your data protection authority.

Security

Wavumi uses encrypted connections (HTTPS), and keeps sign-in tokens only in scrambled (hashed) form. No system is perfectly secure, so tell us at once if you think your account was misused.

Children

Wavumi isn't for children under 13. If we learn that a child under 13 has an account, we delete it.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top, and tell you in the app when the change matters.
